Still life in Matisse's style...alla prima technique

Children produced a still life drawing of flowers, glass vase, a metal jug and lemon using the alla prima technique, meaning that they created the outline of the subjects in paintbrush and paint, rather than in pencil prior starting painting the picture. This encouraged spontaneity, confidence and observation skills, and also led to the painting to look more fresh and spontaneous.

Henri Matisse- Dishes and Fruit, 1901
