Paper Mache Easter centerpiece

Creating a Paper Mache shape out of newspaper and glue using a plastic bowl smeared with petroleum jelly.

The bowls popped out from their form and left to dry...they were then trimmed and given shape. The children then painted in white and pastel acrylic to cover the newspaper print!

Decorating the bowl in kite paper mosaic.

Adding embellishments to create cute bunnies or fluffy chicks, including googly eyes, whiskers, foam ears or beaks, pom poms and feathers amongst others! Finally, the bowls were filled in straw and topped with chocolate Easter eggs!!

Surrealism inspired by Rene Magritte

Perceiving the eye as a mirror in two dimensions:

  • A mirror reflecting what it is actually seeing
  • A mirror to the heart, reflecting the feelings deep within
The children also added verses to add more detail to their drawing, whilst also making use of another expression of art: writing.

"The snow is cold so my eye turned blue"
Green-glowing eyes to see better at night
"The sun was shining so much that my eye burned red"

"His eyes are so blue that the clouds reflect in his eyes"
The eyes saw so much rain that they produced tears
Eyes inspired by the Northern Lights

"The sun is so hut it burned my eyes"
"There is so much rain it made me cry"
"It's so snowy I'm freezing cold"
